aka zeass, zeedonk, zebadonk

"Zonkey" is not the technically correct name for such a cross. The most commonly accepted terms are zebrinny, zebrula, and zedonk.

We heart hearts...and Kermit

Elvis Costello, Palais Theatre, St Kilda 10th October 2009

I realised upon entering this concert that I was one of the youngest members of the audience, barring the young children who were dragged there by their parents because it was probably cheaper than paying a babysitter on a saturday night. Elvis Costello and the Attractions were kicking it before I was even born and not being that familiar with his other work, I didn't know what to expect for a solo performance.

The crowd were neat and polite. The seasoned entertainer stood on the stage with an array of guitars and intricate foot pedals surrounding him.

Costello has a fantastic voice. One that could be heard thoughout the entire theatre without amplification. He played many of his famous songs including "She", "Veronica", "Watching the Detectives". "Good year for the roses" was one of the shining songs of the set which was well rounded by "What's so funny about peace love and understanding?"

Another celebration for music lovers. Thanks Elvis.

Booooooom Bernauer Balloon

Today is an important day

Today marks the important "two months and 13 days until Christmas" anniversary. Therefore, I share these Christmas gift cheat-sheets that can be downloaded for free from Made in England (the blog of designer and illustrator Simon Cook ). Just print one off, fill it in, then leave it in a conspicuous spot for your loved ones to find. It's even less subtle than sticking "Buy This" Post-It notes into jewellery catalogues.

While you're there, check out "Poo Views", a photo series by Cookie (who is also a keen hiker, it would seem) documenting his outdoor shitting experiences.

Afro Samurai

This series currently being shown on ABC2 combines two elements very dear to me. Afros and Samuel L Jackson.

Afro Samurai is a five part anime series starring Samuel L Jackson as the forementioned main character. The series is set in futuristic feudal Japan. The story revolves around various villains attempting to defeat Afro who has deity-like superpowers.

Samuel L Jackson is at his best in this anime series. And yes, there are many " opportunities for him to say "muthaf....er" which he takes full advantage of.

Balloons of the day

"Pinned" by Adam Parker Smith

B side... AMEN BROTHER!
Arguably the most sig breakbeat in history. 1969
Interesting: Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions song 'we're winners' very similar baseline 1967, BUT Greg Coleman was the same drummer. Shame he missed out on all those royalties. AND.... Jester Hairston's Amen was the melody.
Original afterall?
